Yatra by Nachiketa and Rashid Khan: micro music review

Just listened to this album. Good experimentation, though I am personally not a fan of Rashid Khan. He is too mechanical. But, Nachiketa’s portion was marvelous. The low keyed bass guitar with drums arrangement gave the songs more weight, usually absent in traditional arrangements with piano. Not a fusion album at all. In fact, the thumri portions of Rashid Khan are sort of awkwardly placed in front of every song. Nachiketa should have ditched him and gone solo. Good work by arranger Sovon Mukherjee.  Just avoid the last song and the album is gold.
