Perl trick for finding codons in all three reading frames

Recently someone asked me to find codons in a nucleotide sequence in all the three reading frames. The best I could write this in Perl is:

@codons = $seq =~ /(?=(\S\S\S))/g;

Anyone knows any better way of doing this?
