New X11 and “rgb.txt” problem in Fedora Core 5

This is the first of my post on my experience with Fedora Core 5 installation issues.

It seems that there are problems with legacy X applications in new Fedora Core 5 modular X11. The problem stems from the fact that the old X11 used to use:

RgbPath “/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/rgb”

But the file in Fedora Core 5 is actually in “/usr/share/X11/”. As a result lots of applications, particularly the beta version of Xemacs 21.5, can not show syntax highlighting (more about that will be in next post). The solution is to change the following in “xorg.conf”:

#RgbPath “/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/rgb”
RgbPath “/usr/share/X11/rgb”

Now you machine will know the difference between black and white
